Significant Progress Has Been Made In The Project Of Goji Berry Genome Project In Ningxia

At present, great progress has been made in the project of “goji berry genome project”, which was carried out by the national goji berry research and Engineering Center of Ningxia Academy of agriculture and forestry sciences.

Goji berry is a special resource plant in Ningxia, China, with an area of 870 thousand mu, with a total output value of 5 billion yuan. Ningxia goji berry is a world leader in resources, varieties and cultivation, but it has not been studied in the field of genome research.

Ningxia Academy of agriculture and Forestry Sciences National goji berry Engineering Technology Research Center, in order to seize the commanding heights of goji berry, and actively strive for national ministries to support, cooperation and BGI Shenzhen Technology Co. Ltd., in July this year, the first in the country to carry out research work of sequencing the genome of Goji berry project. Sequencing is nearing its end.

According to reports, the national goji berry center will use 3 years, step by step to complete genome sequencing and assembly of goji berry and goji berry in different growth stages and different tissues transcriptome determination and analysis, goji berry gene combination transcriptome annotation and functional gene identification, finally finish the construction of goji berry fine genome map.

The development and utilization of goji berry gene, will enable China leading directly into the research on Genetic Breeding of goji berry, cultivate new varieties more with independent intellectual property rights, enhance the life science frontier technology in China’s academic status and international influence, leading and supporting goji berry industry development goals.
